This is Mr. James
I am a husband, father, teacher, believer, brother, son, community member, and friend.
I have been a teacher since 2004 and am still trying to become the best educator I can be. I strive to make history come alive to each and everyone one of my students. My hope is that students will have a greater understanding and appreciation of how events and people that lived thousands of years ago impact life today. I treat learning history as an adventure. There is always something new to explore. In fact, this year's theme is ADVENTURE AWAITS. I count it a privilege to help prepare students to become the best person they can.
In addition to teaching the awesome and energetic kids at Chase Middle School, I also instruct future teachers at the University of Phoenix. I teach classes in college success, classroom management, social studies instruction, and US Constitution.
I have a family; a beautiful and amazing wife since 2000 (she also works at Chase as a PE teacher) and 6 kids who bring so much joy to my life. Five of my kids have attended Chase. My family inspires me to be better while showing how to love like I never knew I could. I enjoy creating memories that will last a lifetime. We live and laugh together ( I always look for opportunities to tell dad jokes just to see the eye roll reaction it causes in my kids). I love spending time with my family as these moments pass quickly.
I love the outdoors. You can often find me mountain biking. I try to get out and ride 3 or 4 days a week. I also enjoy hiking, kayaking, cycling, boogie boarding, obstacle/mud runs, or taking walks with my wife and kids. I'm always up for a new adventure.
I try explore and and have new experiences. I desire to visit new locations, learn the history of this place, and make lifelong memories.
I enjoy reading. I try to read everyday. I will pick up many different types of books. Action, adventure, and mystery books are my favorite fiction styles. For non-fiction, I prefer history, education, and theology.
I play guitar. I enjoy board games. I love going to the beach, the forest, and cool places in between. I enjoying spending time with others. I appreciate true friends, faith, laughter, and integrity. I only get one chance at this life. I'm going to live it the best I can with what I am given.
